Rev. Latha Ravi

Rev. Latha Ravi came to St. Paul's in June 2008 from her position as Pastor of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church in Canton, Mich. Rev. Ravi previously served as Associate Pastor at Central United Methodist Church, Detroit; Interim Pastor at Central United Church, Flint; and Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church, Ypsilanti.

Rev. Ravi received her Master of Divinity from Episcopal Divinity School  in Cambridge, Mass. She finished all her Methodist requirements at the School of Theology at Boston University and Harvard Divinity School. Rev. Ravi also graduated with Honors from the University of Michigan with a degree in Asian Studies. She received an award in Mission Education while in Ypsilanti.

Rev. Ravi was born in Madras (now renamed Chennai), India. Her family moved to the United States in 1976, just in time to join the rest of the United States in the Bicentennial celebration. The oldest child of an inter-faith, inter-lingual, inter-regional marriage (of a Telugu Baptist mother an a Malayali Hindu father), she quickly learned two different histories, myths, cultures and traditions within her own family. Both of her parents served as physicians during the India-Pakistan War.

While growing up in India, she and her younger sister were raised speaking English since that, in addition to Hindi, were the only languages that her parents had in common. While attending a French school, Good Shepherd Convent, she learned to love the Lord's Prayer, tall, dark, heavy marble and granite cathedrals, and large carved stone fonts in the entrance filled with cool, dark spots of sanctified water. She also attended the Church of South India with her mother while in Madras.

Andrea Langhoff
Director of Youth Ministry

Andrea became a member of the St. Paul’s family in October 2009 after moving to Rochester earlier that summer.  St. Paul’s was a great fit for Andrea from the start; she is a member of the Epworth Choir and has worked alongside the wonderful High School Youth Group volunteers since her arrival.  Andrea was born and raised in Athens, Wisconsin growing in faith at Trinity Lutheran.  After working towards a degree in Recreation Management at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse she became a nanny for a family in Delaware in August 2008; where she regularly attended Newark United Methodist Church.  With the change in the auto industry the nanny-family moved to Michigan and asked Andrea to join.  She is elated to continue to provide compassionate child care for her nanny-family while moving forward with St. Paul’s terrific Youth Ministry programming.  Andrea also plans to continue her education to grow as a servant of our Lord.

Amy Heitman
Director of Children's Ministry

Amy and her husband, Jamie, joined St. Paul’s in May of 2000 when their first daughter, Lilly, was baptized.

They were drawn to the church even before they started their family because of the wonderful children’s programs that were offered.

Amy grew up in the First Presbyterian Church in Fenton, Michigan, living in Fenton until she left for her undergraduate work at Albion College.  She is a certified elementary school teacher and spent seven years teaching in Holly, Michigan while earning her M.A.T.  from Oakland University.  Amy and Jamie have lived in Rochester for fifteen years and are the proud parents of two daughters, Lilly and Annie.

Pastor Emeritus Dr. Timothy and Betty Lou Hickey

Dr. Timothy Hickey is the longest serving pastor at St. Paul’s in Rochester. He arrived here as senior minister in June 1973 and retired from here in October 2000.

Known throughout the United Methodist Church Detroit Conference as a dynamic preacher, Tim has always had an intense focus on liturgy, evangelism and church growth. During his tenure at St. Paul's, the church grew both physically and numerically.

Upon his retirement in 2000, his love for St. Paul’s was reciprocated when he was elected pastor emeritus and St. Paul's Friendship Hall was renamed Hickey Hall.

In retirement in Palm Coast, Florida, Tim and Betty Lou enjoy reading, traveling and antiquing. Tim has returned to preach several times, including in September 2008 in celebration of St. Paul's 150th anniversary and Homecoming Weekend.
