Vitamins for Haiti St. Paul’s will be participating by collecting multi-vitamins. The St. Paul’s Health Ministry Team is asking the Children’s Sunday School classes and the adults of our congregation to bring in their favorite kind of multi-vitamin on May 15. A collection basket will be in the narthex and in the children’s education wing for your donations. All multi-vitamins must be new with unbroken seals, an expiration date of December 1, 2012 or after, and in bottles of 100 tabs or more. Generic equivalents are acceptable. St. Paul's honored as Advocate of the Month Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church has named St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Rochester as their Advocate of the Month for January. Congratulations to all who have worked and supported Liberia’s Henri Dennis School over the past eight years to earn this special recognition. Learn more about St. Paul's honor Learn more about Liberia’s Henri Dennis School The world is my parish Those are the words of John Wesley, founder of the United Methodist Church. Wesley said something else that has special meaning to the St. Paul’s community… Do all the good you can, Together, we can. Extras for Missions One of St. Paul’s growing traditions is that, during Lent, we invite everyone to practice “tithing on non-essentials.” What does this mean? For each dollar you spend on non-essential items, such as dinner out, entertainment, manicures (you decide which expenses are non-essential), set aside 10%. At the end of Lent, give a prayer of thanks as you contribute the monies to Habitat for Humanity and help people who often can afford only essentials. Further information and special envelopes are available in the Kiosk just outside the Sanctuary. Also, learn all about the St. Paul’s noisy offerings.
Nothing But Nets Challenge Update 2011 Recap The Nothing But Nets collection raised over $1,460.
This means that 146 nets can be purchased and 2010 Recap We collected $1,430 for 143 malaria nets for St. Paul’s seventh mission area. The concept is simple: mosquito nets can prevent malaria, a disease that is killing children daily throughout Africa. This effort is part of a partnership led by the United Methodist Church, NBA Cares, the United Nations Foundation and other organizations. There is nothing better than some “friendly” competition, so we are happy to announce the top four largest group donations: Men’s Basketball (22 nets) Mission Council (21 nets) Faith & Family (14 nets) Chancel Choir (13 nets) Thanks to all who organized, helped and paid to play! |
