A unique learning experience for
pre-schoolers and their parents.

St. Paul’s Co-op Preschool provides a stimulating environment where children develop at their own rate.  The child-oriented program is well planned yet flexible, in providing many “hands-on” experiences and exploration activities to nurture basic developmental needs of your children:

  • Physical

  • Language

  •  Cognitive

  • Social and Emotional

To meet the needs of our philosophy, we believe children develop best in an atmosphere where there is positive, caring interaction between parents and children…thus the children will gain confidence in their abilities and a healthy self-concept.

Teaching Staff

Mary Sue Edwards, Teacher - 4s Program

My name is Mary Sue Edwards and I live in an 82 year old house in downtown Rochester with my husband Jeff (to whom I have been happily married for the last 20 years), our daughter Melanie (age 11 1/2), our 2 cats, and 1 dog (a “career change” Leader dog). Jeff and I both grew up in Colorado and have lived in Ohio, Missouri and have spent the last 9 years in Michigan. We like to spend a lot of time outside riding bikes, roller-blading, gardening and playing at the park whenever the weather cooperates. Melanie and I also enjoy many art activities and doing crafts together.

I am thrilled to be a part of the teaching staff at St. Paul’s Co-op. My family and I have been a part of the Co-op for the past 8 years and have found it to be a wonderful place to grow and learn. My daughter attended preschool at St. Paul’s for 2 years and I have taught there for the past 6 years. As a parent and a teacher I find the Co-op to be a unique opportunity for meeting other families and sharing the moments of discovery which occur so frequently during our children’s earliest educational experiences. I am continually impressed and enchanted by the discussions and activities that we share in the classroom. I am a hands-on educator and you will most often find me on the floor working and playing right along with the children. Together we accomplish many amazing things!

For nine years I taught in both public and private elementary schools in the primary grades. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado. I have taken several post graduate courses in Counseling, Reading Instruction and School Mission Planning. I currently hold a MI professional teaching certificate and have been certified in Ohio, Arizona, Missouri and Colorado. I find teaching to be a joy and I look forward to sharing that joy with you and your children as we explore the world of wonder and possibility that is preschool.

Dorthe Egnatios, Teacher - 3s Program

My name is Dorthe Egnatios. I am so happy to join the St. Paul's preschool team in being the new 3’s teacher. I have a Bachelor's degree in Education from Denmark, which I completed in 2000. After that, I worked 6 months in a "regular" preschool then moved to work with special needs children for almost 3 years.

I live in Troy with my husband Mark. We were married last September in Denmark. After lots of paperwork and visits to the Embassy, I was able to move here in January. Leaving everything familiar and known was so hard and a little scary, but at the same time also very exciting. I imagine the new threes -and their parents, must feel kind of the same way! !

Through sharing questions, concerns and expectations, I know we all will find preschool to be a wonderful place to learn, grow and most of all have FUN.

Beth Pysz, Teacher - Parent-Tot Program and Assistant 3’s Program

My name is Beth Pysz (pronounced Pie-Us) and I am so excited to teaching for the Parent-Tot Program. I have a Bachelor’s degree in early Childhood Education and am certified to teach preschool - 8th grade. I love to do arts and crafts, play, sit on the floor and read, and sing (although I’m not too good at singing), so I know we will have lots of fun next year. My own children are graduates of St. Paul’s Co-op, or near graduates. My daughter, Jennifer, who is in 2nd grade now, went here and my son, Mitchell is in the 4s a.m. class this year.

Rexann Williams, Assistant – 4’s  Program

My name is Rexann Williams and I am the teacher’s assistant for the 4 year old classes this year.  I live in Rochester with my husband, Guy, and our 2 children, Delaney (9) and Collin (6).  My family and I have been a part of the St. Paul’s Co-Op family for the past 6 years. Both of our children attended the 3’s and 4’s classes at St. Paul’s and this is my second year as MarySue’s assistant. I enjoyed the co-op experience with them so much, that I decided to work here too!

My husband and I are originally from the suburbs of Chicago.  We lived in Illinois, Louisville, KY, and Atlanta before settling here in Rochester. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University.  I enjoy reading, knitting, swimming with our children, reading to them, and going to the park.

I am excited to be a part of the St. Paul’s Co-Op teaching staff, and thankful for the wonderful opportunity to spend my days with 4 year olds and all of their unique personalities.
