A unique learning experience for pre-schoolers and their parents.

St. Paul’s Co-op Preschool provides a stimulating environment where children develop at their own rate.  The child-oriented program is well planned yet flexible, in providing many “hands-on” experiences and exploration activities to nurture basic developmental needs of your children:

  • Physical

  • Language

  •   Cognitive

  • Social and Emotional

To meet the needs of our philosophy, we believe children develop best in an atmosphere where there is positive, caring interaction between parents and children…thus the children will gain confidence in their abilities and a healthy self-concept.

Teaching Staff

Mary Sue Edwards, Teacher - 4s Program

My name is Mary Sue Edwards and I live in an 84 year old house in downtown Rochester with my husband Jeff (to whom I have been happily married for the last 23 years), our daughter Melanie (age 13 1/2), our 2 cats, and 1 dog (a “career change” Leader dog). Jeff and I both grew up in Colorado and have lived in Ohio and  Missouri. We have spent the last 11 years here in Michigan. We like to spend a lot of time outside riding bikes, gardening and hanging out in the hammock in the summertime. In the winter Melanie and I enjoy many art activities and playing board and computer games together.

I am thrilled to be a part of the teaching staff at St. Paul’s Co-op. My family and I have been a part of the Co-op for the past 10 years and have found it to be a wonderful place to grow and learn. My daughter attended preschool at St. Paul’s for 2 years and I have taught there for the past 8 years. As a parent and a teacher I find the Co-op to be a unique opportunity for meeting other families and sharing the moments of discovery which occur so frequently during our children’s earliest educational experiences. I am continually impressed and enchanted by the discussions and activities that we share in the classroom. I am a hands-on educator and you will most often find me on the floor working and playing right along with the children. Together we accomplish many amazing things!

For nine years I taught in both public and private elementary schools in the primary grades. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Metropolitan State College and a Master’s Degree in Elementary Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado. I have taken several post graduate courses in Counseling (Art Music and Play Therapy), Reading Instruction and School Mission Planning. I currently hold a MI professional teaching certificate and have been certified in Ohio, Arizona, Missouri and Colorado. I find teaching to be a joy and I look forward to sharing that joy with you and your children as we explore the world of wonder and possibility that is preschool.

Susan Myers, Teacher - 3s Program

My name is Susan Myers, and I live in Rochester Hills with Jim, my husband of 16 years, and our three wonderful sons, Jared (12), Jack (8) and Steve (6).  Our pets include the many reptiles and amphibians that live in tanks in Jared’s room.  Our family can often be found playing baseball in our front yard, roller hockey on our street, basketball in the driveway or any other sport or outdoor activity that sounds like fun.

I am so excited to be back at St. Paul’s Cooperative Preschool this year, and to once again have the privilege to be part of the teaching staff for my second year.  All three of my sons are former students of St. Paul’s Co-op, and I can’t think of a better place they could have been.  My experiences at St. Paul’s both as a parent and a board member for several years were priceless.  St. Paul’s offers such a unique opportunity to become actively involved in your child’s education as well as meet other families who share a similar interest in their child’s preschool experience.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Hope College and a Master’s Degree in Arts in Teaching Reading and Language Arts from Oakland University.  I taught in the Rochester Community School district for 6 years and work as a “relief on-call” certified athletic trainer through Crittenton Hospital.  I am anxious to begin our journey together at St. Paul’s Cooperative Preschool and am looking forward to all of the fun, learning, and growing that lie ahead.

Beth Pysz, Teacher - Parent-Tot Program and Assistant 3’s Program

My name is Beth Pysz. I live in Oakland Township with my husband, two wonderful kids, a Golden Retriever (Summer), rabbit (Odin), hamster (Mushu), and 14 fish (too many to name).  My daughter is now 13 years old and my son is 11.  They are both graduates of St. Paul’s Co-Op and have many fond memories of the pre-school.

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, and have educational experiences ranging from substitute teaching to volunteering at my children’s schools. Along with spending time with my family, I enjoy crafts, reading, sewing, and gardening

I am looking forward to another fun and rewarding year as the Parent-Tot teacher and also as the assistant in the three-year-old class.  I have been the Parent-Tot teacher for the past seven years and have been the 3’s assistant for the past five years.  I truly enjoy meeting and getting to know all the families and their children over the course of the school year.

Rexann Williams, Assistant – 4’s  Program

My name is Rexann Williams and I am the teacher’s assistant for the 4-year-old classes this year.  I live in Rochester with my husband, Guy, and our 2 children, Delaney (10) and Collin (8 ) .  My family and I have been a part of the St. Paul’s Co-Op family for the past 8 years. Both of our children attended the 3’s and 4’s classes at St. Paul’s and this is my fourth year as MarySue’s assistant. I enjoyed the co-op experience with them so much, that I decided to work here too!

My husband and I are originally from the suburbs of Chicago.  We lived in Illinois, Louisville, KY, and Atlanta before settling here in Rochester. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Western Illinois University.  I enjoy reading, knitting, swimming with our children, reading to them, and going to the park.

I am excited to be a part of the St. Paul’s Co-Op teaching staff, and thankful for the wonderful opportunity to spend my days with 4-year-olds and all of their unique personalities.
