2017 Rummage Sale Dates

           Spring Sale  May 19 & 20

           Fall Sale October 13 & 14

We Need…

…Your Things

Drop Off: May 16 & 17 and

October 10 & 11, 2017

9 a.m. – 5 p.m. & 7 – 9 p.m.

Hickey Hall drop off – men’s and women’s clothing and shoes (please tie laces together), household items, bedding/linens (please pin a note indicating sheet size), towels, pillows, rugs, appliances (please tape remotes to the top of the TV, etc.), furniture, sports equipment, luggage, lamps, jewelry, and Christmas trees.

Lower level classroom area drop off –  Children’s items (clothing, shoes) toys, games, baby items (strollers, activity centers, baby blankets and sheets), books, magazines, records, video/DVD’s, all holiday decorations, and craft supplies.

Paper grocery sacks are also needed.

We do not accept: older large TVs, computers, large appliances, tires, batteries, waterbeds, built-in-type dishwashers/cooktops/ovens, air conditioners, building supplies, storm windows, non-working electrical appliances, old textbooks, or magazines over 5 years old. We cannot accept cribs due to government regulations.

October 2016 Rummage Sale Results:  Thank you to all who volunteered and donated items.

Over $19,100 was raised to share with local missions!  Many thanks to all who donated to this tremendous rummage sale!  Your help sorting, pricing, donating food, setting up, cleaning up and buying were all greatly appreciated.  It was the best sale ever with proceeds of $22,000.  Truly AMAZING!!  I am grateful to you all.  The money will go to help so many wonderful organizations.

Here is a list of where things went from the sale:

St. Paul’s UMC – Music stand for Music Dept., wireless microphone (that is being tested out to see if will work with our system), tea kettle for “staff” kitchen, misc. office supplies like pencils, paperclips, etc., 2 pillows for Donna’s office, some framed artwork for Donna & Debbie’s offices

Preschool – children’s books, fabric, bags of beads, dominos floor game

Romeo High School drama department – 3 Prom Dresses

Children’s Place in Detroit- children’s clothing

Baldwin Center – men’s pants, shorts, belts, children’s socks and underwear

Animal Shelters – old towels, blankets, pillows

Shoes were donated to the Detroit Animal Welfare Group.  They receive money for the shoes and then the shoes are donated to 3rd World countries.

Canes, Tub seats for low income seniors.

Gifts for All God’s Children – Easter baskets

20/20 Vision – prescription eye glasses for Lions Club

Mt. Hope UMC Thrift shop- pans and bakeware, sheets, towels, a wig, 2 rugs

Manna Community Meals Soup Kitchen- coats, men’s clothing

Dry Cleaners – hangers

Salvation Army – all the rest of the things left after the sale

Over $18,600 was raised to share with local missions!  In addition, the Salvation Army collected two larges trucks full of items.

Over $18,300 was raised to share with local missions!  In addition, the Salvation Army collected two larges trucks full of items.

What a great sale!  After all the bills were paid the profit was $18,300.  Our second best ever!

Many people wonder where all the rummage sale left overs go.  Below are some statistics and where the things went after this sale.

Interesting statistics

  • Number of workers – 222
  • Number of people who brought food – 45
  • Non members that helped – 19
  • Youth that helped – 12

Items donated:

  •        St. Paul’s Kitchen – 2 9×13 metal pans
  •           Vietnamese church, new start up – file cabinet, desk chair 
  •           St. Paul’s Medical Supply Lending Closet – 5 walkers, 2 tub seats, 2 canes, crutches, toilet seat riser
  •           Baldwin Center – men’s clothing, personal care items, new games & toys
  •           Clothes Closet –Sheets
  •           Mt. Hope UMC Thrift shop – Pans, towels, sheet set (full), 9 men’s dress shirts
  •           20/20 Vision (Busch’s shopping center) – eye glasses for Lion’s Club of Rochester
  •           The Children’s Center (Detroit) – Children’s clothing
  •           Animal shelter – old blankets, pillows, and towels
  •           Grace Center of Hope – Kitchen towels, silverware, kitchen utensils, dishes, plastic containers
  •           Manna Community Meals Soup Kitchen – Men’s clothing
  •           Romeo High School Theater Co – through Laura Catron. – 3 Formals, 1 cape, 1 pr. Overalls
  •           Preschool – 8 qt. pan with lid, greeting cards, 2 glass vases, 3 kitchen towels, 1 snowman flag, 1 2″ binder, 2 spatulas, 4 spools/skeins of string /yarn, 3 notepads for the writing center, 1 plastic measuring cup, 5 books
  •           Food Pantry – children’s books. Ann Burton selected and took them there.
  •           Salvation Army – all the things left after the sale
